ESSR Awards

WALTER BRENDEL AWARD

The Walter Brendel Awardee (WBA) will be elected from the six presenters of the prestigious Walter Brendel Award session. The WBA has the honour to represent the Society at two international meetings of the Sister Societies of the ESSR (either UK, South-Africa, United States). The travel expenses are covered by the ESSR (up to € 2000) while the accommodation is provided by our sister society. The WBA will be announced and honoured during our Gala Dinner.

BEST CLINICAL RESEARCH AWARD

The Best Clinical Research Award will go to the best presenter of highest scoring clinical research papers during our Best Clinical Research Award session. The Awardee has the honour to present the ESSR at one international meeting of the Sister Societies (either UK, South-Africa, United States). The travel expenses are covered by the ESSR (up to € 1500) while the accommodation is provided by our sister society. The Best Clinical Research Awardee will be announced and honoured during our Gala Dinner.

B. BRAUN AWARD

B.Braun Melsungen AG sponsors the B.Braun Scientific award for an outstanding scientific work characterized by clinical relevance and/or applicability in daily clinical routine. The prize is € 1000. The selection of the awardee is based on the decision of our award committee and a representative of the company. The Awardee will be announced and honoured during our Gala Dinner.

YOUNG INVESTIGATOR AWARD

The Young Investigator Awardee is elected from six presenters of the prestigious Young Investigator Award session with an age limit of 35 years. The prize consists of € 500. The Young Researcher Awardee will be announced and honoured during our Gala Dinner.

POSTER AWARDS

The two best poster presentations will be selected for Poster awards (2 X € 250).
The Poster Awardees will be announced and honoured during our Gala Dinner.

ESSR FELLOWSHIP AWARD

Members of ESSR are conducting important research, however, the collaboration within the ESSR is minimal. The ESSR wishes to foster cooperation and collaboration between various members and their departments especially those in different countries. The ESSR Fellowship Award was established in 2008 with the specific aim of increasing collaboration in surgical research within the ESSR. Application: The application for the ESSR Fellowship must include a candidate who is a paying member of ESSR. The project should involve at least two departments from different countries within the ESSR. The application should describe a project plan (max. 3 pages) stating the aim, background, work plan, methods, importance and budget signed by all involved departments. The hosts of the different departments must be paying members of ESSR. The deadline for the application is 1st of February of the corresponding year and it should be submitted to the     Secretary General     or the President (contact data find under essr.info/Page/Contact)
